1) Koh Samui

It's the second-largest island in Thailand and of course a paradise for both local and international travellers. Koh Samui is a great holiday escape for honeymooners, family holidaymakers and even solo travellers because this destination has something for everyone.
This island has everything that a tourist could wish for. Be it accommodation, dining, nightlife or entertainment, Koh Samui lets you enjoy the best. You may choose to stay at a property such as Avani Chaweng Samui or any other Chaweng resort in Koh Samui and make your holiday extra enjoyable.

2) Getting to Koh Samui

Located just 2km away from Chaweng (one of the main tourist cities in Thailand), you find the Koh Samui Airport. Many air carriers operate direct flights to this airport, and this is the easiest way to come to Koh Samui. After you come to the airport, it's just a matter of getting to your chosen hotel/villa using an airport transfer.
Depending on how many people you have on your crew, you may choose a standard car, people carrier or a mini-bus to go from the airport to the hotel. The rates will vary based on your selected mode of travel.

3) Getting around by a hired car

Getting a car of your own is a great way to explore the island. For ultimate freedom, rent a car for the duration of your vacation or only for a few days to go on a great island adventure and see the Koh Samui attractions of your choice. While Samui offers many possibilities for renting a car, picking up your vehicle at Koh Samui Airport is the most practical option. You also receive a fair selection of cars that suit the size of your group and most likely come with air conditioning and seat belts for your safety.

4) Getting around by a songthaew

Songthaews are Koh Samui's most popular type of public transport. A songthaew is a pickup truck with a converted bed that can carry eight to ten adults at once. The Songthaews are the least expensive form of transportation available in Koh Samui and since this is a traditional experience, you must surely enjoy this experience at least once in your life.

5) Taxis- another convenient option

Taxis are all over Koh Samui. So, you won't find any difficulty in catching a taxi from there whenever you want! Taxi drivers may sometimes be unwilling to turn on their meters, but ask them to turn it on before you start the ride.
If you want, you can also opt for a motorbike (scooter) taxi. This is a faster mode of transportation, and you should also be brave enough to enjoy this experience in Koh Samui (you may consider this as an adventure ride if you like!)

6) Just walk!

Did you know that you can cover many parts of Koh Samui on foot? Choose to walk from one beach to another when you are in Koh Samui, and enjoy the relaxation that this activity offers. Walk leisurely either early in the morning before sunrise or in the evening when the sun sets.

7) Other things to know

Koh Samui does not have a bus service, quite surprisingly. And, if you feel like using app-based taxis such as Uber when you are in Koh Samui, just choose to go ahead with ''Grab"- the Koh Samui version of Uber.
